Nikki Reed Debuts Blonde Hair: See the Makeover Pictures

In the long tradition of changing one's hairstyle after a breakup, Nikki Reed debuted a lighter look on May 23, just days after filing for divorce from Paul McDonald. 

Keeping the length of her formerly brown hair, the Twilight actress, 26, lightened the shade to a honey-toned blonde.

Reed teased her new color via Instagram on Friday, May 23—hinting that the change is actually for a role. "Finishing touches," she wrote. "Less than a week away from filming #TheSundayHorse."

In The Sunday Horse, based on a true story, Reed plays Debi Walden, an equestrian rider who overcomes a near-fatal accident to win the U.S. championship.

Reed and McDonald first announced their split in March after two years of marriage. "After much consideration, Nikki Reed and Paul McDonald are ending their marriage," a rep told Us at the time. "They remain best friends and look forward to their continued journey together."

Since April, Reed has been linked to Derek Hough. The pair have been hooking up and even double-dated with Hough's sister, Julianne, and her boyfriend Brooks Laich.
